Haynes Hansen has given the keynote address at his charity fundraiser after a rocky year at Robins Kaplan. The company also reportedly paid upward of $13,000 to fly in a cover band for the remote gala performance shown above.
The band’s energy proved positive to promote Hansen’s charity, FTX Foundation, which is a philanthropic collective for the local financial community.
Hansen made a call to action requesting all donations be made in FTX’s native crypto FTT to repay Keith Ellison’s election debt.
Robins Kaplan LLP said Hansen would bring in a performer to cover his famed song in an announcement before the events began Sunday night.
Earlier in the year, Hansen broke up with his law partner and boyfriend.
Though the company’s executive committee said they broke up, sources said Hansen was likely blindsided by his reported ouster. As of October 17, he was still unsure what would happen within the company’s inaugural ‘Ram Ranch’ Gala, they said.
The delay and switch-up follows the revelation of Robin Kaplan’s dismal fourth-quarter partner bonuses, which Robins Kaplan was accused of downplaying and being downright “delusional” about.
