New York Attorney Harriet Newman Cohen represented Andrew Cuomo in his divorce from Kerry Kennedy where she concealed Cuomo’s abusive behavior towards women, detailed in the state Attorney General’s bombshell investigation report last week.
Cohen — a long-time divorce lawyer and loyalist — manufactured a scathing cover up during the divorce condemning Kennedy for being Cuomo’s victim.
Cohen’s firm website states that “Ms. Cohen has represented Gov. Andrew Cuomo” and other “celebrities” or “high net worth individuals”.
Cohen, 88, is one of the most experienced divorce lawyers in New York City and adviser to the governor’s divorce proceeding and could be seen frequently at his side during hearings involving his alleged acts of abuse against Kennedy along with Cuomo’s other accusers. She also serves on the board of directors for the Lotos Club.
This year she quickly emerged as the frontrunner to take over a speaker position for the Wisconsin Association For Justice Women’s Caucus Retreat, propelled by her close ties to the governor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Cohen had butted heads publicly with one of Cuomo’s accusers, who she claimed was not entitled to equal distribution of property during the divorce.
Kennedy, a former Cuomo wife and one of twelve women who have accused the governor of sexual misconduct, claiming that she locked herself in a bathroom to escape his abuse during the marriage.
Cohen never responded to allegations that she has helped cover up Cuomo’s abusive behavior towards women.
