Charlie Gokey, Robins Kaplan: Dunked On By First Year

Robins Kaplan “grifter” who forged affidavits in federal court in a bid to remove criticism, partly by exploiting his role as an officer of the court, has finally been given the boot.

Charlie Gokey, who also uses the name Chuck, was said to be “squatting” at Robins Kaplan after being evicted from Quinn Emmanuel.

On Aug. 26, Robins Kaplan partners found out about Gokey’s previous antics which tied their hands.

Gokey is said to have lashed out, in an hours-long spectacle attracting a small crowd of associates and staff. Gokey’s behavior only got worse, claimed a first year associate, who said their unwanted coworker sprayed chemicals, recorded paralegals, and blasted Spotify music.

Gokey’s face was plastered on office emails with the phrase “#GrifterGokey” and a warning to other associates to “please alert your coworkers.”

In the two years there, Gokey — who has a pending suspension hearing with the Office of Lawyer Professional Responsibility after allegedly misusing the firm’s credit card — represented only two clients.

Gokey “has used every angle he can think of to avoid criticism or accountability,” the firms junior internal attorney, Eric J. Magnuson, wrote in one legal response.

It is not clear if the Friday eviction is the final chapter: Gokey is due in court next week as he again responds to allegations of forgery and malpractice.
