Coverup Crew ‘Humming’ Along: Susan Humiston Conceals Judicial Misconduct By Improperly Suspending Attorney Michelle MacDonald

In June 2021, the Director of The Office Of Lawyer Professional Responsibility Susan Humiston suspended attorney Michelle MacDonald. The suspension stems from old accusations related to criticizing Dakota County Judge David L. Knutson.

MacDonald has repeatedly run for the Minnesota Supreme Court on a platform devoted to constitutional and human rights within family court systems.

In 2013, Dakota County Judge David L. Knutson purportedly held MacDonald in contempt with respect to a contentious hearing involving representation of a client. During that same hearing, Judge Knutson is alleged to have engineered a situation where MacDonald was placed in a wheelchair, wheeled out, and either duct taped or handcuffed. It still remains unclear exactly what happened. We do know, however, that Knutson’s actions were a clear and outrageous attempt to humiliate and degrade MacDonald while she argued her clients case.

Fast forward to 2019-20, MacDonald was reported to Humiston by surrogates to the original parties opposed to MacDonald during the 2013 hearing. The complaint cited that MacDonald allegedly spoke about the situation and criticized Judge Knutson during a radio appearance. Unfortunately, this was the legal basis Humiston used to suspend MacDonald.

Meanwhile, Humiston allows Minnesota attorneys to fabricate and falsify evidence in efforts to conceal law enforcement misconduct. Humiston has devoted her career to concealing attorney and judicial misconduct. Look no further than her egregious suspension of MacDonald for MacDonald’s exercise of First Amendment rights.
